Germany vs. Poland, I stayed awake late night to see the world champions face a real test in the name of Poland and was particularly disappointed by their poor display Germany vs. Poland. This was the first goal less draw at this year’s Euros and to see Germany in it was a bit shocking. What was even worse was that the Germans failed to have even a single shot at the goal in the first half. It was not like the world champions were playing with a team who has entered the competition after a long wait of 12 years. Germany was evenly matched by Poland in every department and they even had a better shot at goal that was waywardly missed by Arkadiusz Malik.
The German defense and the Polish defense were the pick of the match as they brilliantly shielded their goalkeepers. Though Mario Gotze and Mesut Ozil had their chance, but were not enough and were brilliantly dealt with Lukas Fabianski. Here are all the players ranked according to their performance last night-
Manuel Neuer – 6
Had nothing to do as Poland failed to charge at him on a single occasion, but was busy playing the role of “Sweeper keeper” for the German team.
Bendikt Howedes – 6
The Schalke man was at his usual self and produced a stunning block in the first half and was tested couple of times.
Jerome boateng – 8
A strong performance by the Bayern Munich men and was the major reason why Lewandowski threat remained silent.
Matt Hummels – 7
Another standout performer for the defense though didn’t look in his best shape as he came back from injury concern.
John Hector- 6.5
Impressive, brilliantly dealt with the dangerous polish wingmen and was supporting the attack too.
Sami Khedira – 6
Had a scary first half and looked to be on the receiving end of a red card but recovered well.
Tony Kroos – 7.5
Genius, absolute genius, was the major craftsmen in every German attack and could prove to be a worthy asset later in the competition.
Thomas Muller – 5
A poor performance by the reliable German goal scorer and should came back to his antics soon.
Mesut ozil – 5
Arsenal man had a day to forget, only had one chance at the goal that too was not good according to standards.
Julian Draxler – 4
Not a great night for the Schalke man though looked promising in the initial stages of the game.
Mario Gotze – 4
The poorest German player tonight, failed to produce any magic and only had one shot on goal.
Lukasz Fabianski – 6
Coming into the team in place of injured Szczesny did good work by saving the only two shots by the German team.
Lukasz Piszczek – 5
The Dortmund man was not at his best as he was caught in the first half and was largely passive for the most time in the match.
Kamil Glik – 7
The man was a standout performer for the polish team and kept the German attackers quiet for the night.
Michal Pazdan -7
The physically imposing center half was stubborn enough to stop layers of the German attack in the first few minutes.
Artur Jedrzejczyk – 6
The player had a good display, though, was not potent when it comes to supporting the attackers.
Grzegorz Krychowiak – 7.5
The Seville man proved with his incredible displays that why he is highly rated in Spain.
Krzysztof Maczynski – 7
Worked hard and was the engine of the team effectively shielding his final four.
Jakub Balszczykowski – 6
It was an Ordinary performance by the right winger as he was effectively dealt by the German counterpart.
Kamil Grosicki -7
Posed some major attacking threat for the polish, but then looked jaded.
Arkadiusz Malik – 4
It was a day to forget for the Ajax striker who missed a golden opportunity.
Robert Lewandowski – 6
It was an ordinary performance by the lethal striker which is quite a rare case, but could not overcome the challenge of fellow club team mate Jerome boeateng.
